The International Construction Management Symposium (ICMS) event aims to bring together engineers, contractors, employers, consultants, experts, managers, professors, instructors, and industry executives in order to establish the most extensive specialized ecosystem within the construction sector.
During the first event, around 500 attendees from the construction management community, alongside 22 companies and organizations supported by 29 specialized construction management ecosystems in Iran gathered together with an objective of cultivating specialized construction management expert knowledge.
The second event will be held in a different manner, such that by adding new arenas including “Construction Industry Exhibition”, “Job Fair Exhibition”,” Specialized Lounge Area”, along with increasing the number of specialized workshops and changing the structure of the panels of challenges and solutions, it tries to take a step further towards its grand goal of establishing a specialized ecosystem for construction management in Iran.
The second international symposium of construction management, scheduled for September 2024, will be attended by approximately 1000 participants including distinguished domestic and international speakers, experienced managers, esteemed university professors, and specialized industry practitioners, in order to establish one of the most specialized and extensive communication networks within the construction industry.

Following the warm reception of the keynote speeches at the first symposium and the speeches of the two distinguished experts and professors from the United States (Professor John E. Schaufelberger and Professor Raymond Lemming), the second symposium will also witness the participation of other domestic and international speakers who have professionally practiced in project management within the construction industry. For the second time in Iran, the most specialized construction management event will be held in a completely different manner. In the second symposium, new plans such as credit for participating in ACEMI institute's scheduled courses, discounts for attending the construction industry exhibition, and free admission to the job fair exhibition have been added to the supportive plans. In addition to the supportive plans, for the first time in this field, a new plan has been offered to support startup companies in the construction industry.
The absence of specialized construction management events in the country, particularly in recent years, despite extensive advertising in the field of public project management, has been strongly felt. Planning and executing international-level conferences such as the Construction Management Symposium are crucial steps towards achieving grand goals, such as promoting the science and literature of this field for enthusiasts on one hand, and creating a platform for expanding the network of specialists on the other. The International Construction Management Symposium, attended by a large number of both international and domestic professors, as well as senior executives of prominent and famous companies and organizations in the construction industry, provides a unique opportunity for exchanging experiences and acquiring the latest knowledge in the field of construction industry.
The first International Construction Management Symposium in Iran is significant and valuable from various aspects, including: participation of renowned professors and experts in construction management from around the globe including Iranians residing in other countries, offering fresh and contemporary insights in the construction management aspect and its associated challenges, presenting lessons learned by active companies in the construction management area, explaining the distinction between project management and construction management, despite the relatively novel status of the second one in Iran, and endeavors to modify misconceptions in this domain, efforts to establish collaboration between industry professionals and academia and to establish networking opportunities among specialists in this field. These are particularly noteworthy and valuable features of this symposium.
Participating in this important and valuable event has led to several achievements for me, most importantly including: the opportunity to meet and talk with managers from various companies and holdings in construction, consulting, contracting, oil and gas, and even within the employer organizations themselves. Interacting and talking with these managers and organizations has provided opportunities for collaboration or acquaintance. One of the most significant opportunities that can arise at such rare conferences and events is the gathering of highly skilled professors, managers, and instructors from the academic field alongside international project managers with very high levels of education and experience. This aspect has elevated this symposium to the level of a very useful classroom for learning about the business of international project management and international instructors. Overall, the first International Symposium has had and continues to have achievements that necessitate the annual continuation of such events at this high and unique level of quality. Such rich and valuable lessons are extremely necessary and essential.
